Cactus
By Valerie Cathey
Paramount Hybrids:
Crossing echinopsis varieties have achieved more desirable characteristics such as larger and more colorful flowers, more frequent blooms, and variations in the spines. Many cactus enthusiasts have collected Harry Johnson and Bob Schick hybrid echinopsis. Their popularity can be all consuming for some people.

Hybrid echinopsis cannot be reproduced true by seed. Seedling plants will be similar to the parent, but not an exact copy. Hybrid reproduction is from the offsets, or "pups", that grow along the side of the parent cactus, and they are clones. Some hybrids freely pup, and other produce sparingly, making them less available for the cactus enthusiasts.
Paramount heritage seed grown cactus are in bloom below.
