Well it is that time of year to start thinking about fertilizing your grass.  After the disastrous year that we had last year it is even more important to get on a good fertilizer program this year.  We want to build strong roots and grass so that it will be able to overcome the adverse weather that we have here in this area.   We are very proud of the Panhandle Greenhouses Year Round Fertilizer Programs.  We have talked to thousands of customers over the years that simply do not know when and what to fertilize with.  We have developed several different programs that have done well for people.  The problem that we had with the programs was that we were selling folks a year's worth of fertilizer and expecting them to have a place to store it.  A few years ago we came up with the answer.   You buy the program and we store the fertilizer.  The benefits to you are a savings of about 15% off of the bag price and the most important service is that we will contact you 10 days to two weeks before each application and remind you that it is time for you to pick up your next round of fertilizer and apply it.  Those of you that do have the room to store it also get a reminder that it is time to apply your next application.   Our customers on the programs the last several years have found out that their yard has performed better and the cost has been less expensive than having someone else doing it.  Come out today and let one of our knowledgeable staff assist you in deciding which program will work best for you.

Have a great week and come and see us soon,

Birds of the Panhandle
By Judy Jones

Cinnamon Teal
Anas cyanoptera

One of the easiest ducks to identify is the Cinnamon Teal with its rich cinnamon plumage and large blue-black spoon shaped bill as well as their red eyes. In flight it has a pale blue forewings and green speculums when viewed from above. It is one of two species of North American waterfowl that has two separate breeding population one in North America and one in South America the Ruddy Duck shares this distinction. They use their large bill much like the Northern Shovelers and rarely "tip up" for food. They raise only one brood and probably mate for just a single season. According to Kenneth Seyffert author of 'Birds of the Texas Panhandle' Cinnamon Teals can be expected to return to the Texas Panhandle as early as February .
