Happy New Year!  We are finally back in full swing here at Panhandle Greenhouses.  We opened the doors on Monday and have been bombarded with firewood ever since.  If you can't come out and pick up firewood my husband Chase is delivering on the side.  Check below for pricing!

We already have geraniums and all sorts of other plants growing!  If you need a little bit of spring then come out and take a walk through the greenhouses!

Also, anyone that wants a personal class taught we do tours of the greenhouses after hours for different clubs.  Yesterday our neighbor Judy came by and setup a night for a seed and cutting demo for the Native Plants Society. And we always do a couple of classes for the Master Gardeners.

Speaking of classes, we are working on our seminar schedule!  We always need fresh ideas.  E-mail me and let me know what sorts of classes y'all want!  We are thinking about Rain Water Harvesting, Fairy Gardening, and Container Planting, but we always need other ideas!

Thank you for your continued business!

Thanks,
Aaryn Reid

Ducks

Ducks can be divided into two simple groups, they are either dabbling ducks or diving ducks. Diving ducks have large feet that helps them dive deep under the water in search for food.  Their large feet are positioned far back on their body which makes them awkward on land. Momentum is needed to gain flight so they run across the water a short distance before taking flight.

Most dabblers upend to eat while others skim just below the water's surface to feed. Dabblers walk well on land and can spring straight up from the water and  take flight. Next time you visit a duck pond see which ones are divers and which are dabblers. Next week we will take a closer look at a pretty  little dabbler the Blue-winged Teal.
