Okay... I have a lot of info to cover.

If you enjoy feeding/watching the birds then this is your lucky week!  Everything bird related (food, houses, feeders, baths) is now 25% off!  This would be a great time to stock up for next year and to buy suit and log food for your winter feeding!

Anyone that has been interested in doing a vertical wall planting but didn't like how expensive the pre-formed planters are can take advantage of 50% off all of our vertical wall planters and accessories!  Great Christmas present!

Start putting Winterizer down soon!  This cold front this weekend is reminding me that winter is just around the corner.  Also, for every bag of Winterizer you buy, you can buy a bag of Activate and save $3!  It is always a great time to put Activate on your yard.  Why not give it that extra boost before winter?

Come and see us!

Birds of the Panhandle

Eastern Screech-Owl
Megascops asio
Otus asio

Here in the Texas Panhandle if you see a Screech-Owl it is most likely an Eastern Screech-Owl. We are on the extreme western edge of its range. More often heard than seem, campers in this area can hear their erie "whinny" soon after dark. Mated pairs may sing duets known as antiphonal duetting. They may sing together or alternate their song so sometime you may be hearing more than one bird. This is a small owl with variable color, nestlings is same family may be rufous brown or grey. Height is from seven to ten inches, they have yellow eyes and large ear tufts. For nesting they prefer a dead tree snag but will use a nest box. Nest box directions are easily found on the Web. While the weather is still warm take an evening walk near your local park and listen for their "whinny".
