Why United Way?
"It is because the agencies of United Way make a difference in our community and United Way allows the agencies to spend more time focusing on their missions. I see the work these dedicated staff and unselfish volunteers perform to improve the lives of children, women, and men in Monroe County and surrounding areas. They simply need our support to take care of those in need today and with that helping hand, reduce the need in months and years to come."
-- Dennis Cromwell, Associate Vice President, Client Services and Support, Indiana University.

Your Donation Has Power. Give Now

Our annual campaign is up and running with individuals, local businesses, and organizations in full campaign swing working to help us meet our $1.3M fundraising goal to support United Way and our 25 member agencies.

The early returns are in and we are thrilled to see such strong early community support.

Thanks to these organizations for their active commitment to our community:

Great West
Great West Casualty Company is demonstrating their power by increasing their giving for the second year in a row! Thanks so much Great West for raising $7,746 dollars for this year's United Way campaign.

Catholic Charities
Congratulations to member agency Catholic Charities Bloomington for being the first to finish its United Way workplace campaign and raising over $300!

It's not too late to start a campaign at your workplace. Want to see how you can help people grow, succeed, unite, and thrive right here in our community?  Contact Resource Development Director Sarah Taylor by email or call her at (812) 334-8370.

Be a Tax Hero! Be a Tax Hero

The Free Community Tax Service, led by United Way of Monroe County, is currently seeking volunteers for the 2016 tax season at program sites in Bloomington, Ellettsville, and Spencer. If you'd like to be a Tax Hero, get in touch with us by November 13, 2015.

The Free Community Tax Service helps low- and moderate-income residents file federal and state returns for no charge, claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, and receive 100 percent of their refund quickly and easily.

Volunteers do not need to have any prior experience with preparing taxes, only a desire to help others. Volunteers will receive complete training and support to become IRS-certified Tax Preparers. Detailed info at www.financialstabilityalliance.org/volunteer.html.
