Meet Harriet Pfister:  Live United Spotlight

With kindness and a smile, Harriet Pfister brightens the day and lightens the load of those around her.  She chooses to Live United every day. Since moving to Bloomington more than 40 years ago, Harriet has been involved with United Way: as a Loyal Contributor, campaign chair in the IU Economics department, United Way Board Member, volunteer, Mary Alice Gray Memorial Award recipient. And, since her retirement, she helps lead the fundraising campaign of the IU Retirees Association -- to whose members she sends hand-written thank you notes for their gift, each year.

United Way Wins Golden Excellence in Media Award!
On March 7th, United Way of Monroe County proudly accepted the Golden Excellence in Media (GEM) award from the Indiana Association of United Ways. Our work with the Bloom Magazine Front Page Challenge fundraiser and our Live United Photography Gallery also received first place awards!

High School Plus Winter Summit

What happens when 40+ people passionate about helping kids graduate school and develop a career path all gather together? At the High School Plus Winter Summit we found out:

Teamwork, amazing ideas, info sharing, hands-on problem solving, and laughter!
In late February, educators, youth, social service providers, and funders joined together to start building Monroe County's road map to success! This road map will help Monroe County kids graduate school and develop a career path.

Community Housing Forum
On March 5th, more than 100 individuals from the community weighed in with the South Central Housing Network on housing and homelessness issues.
