This past month my daughter number three received her driver's license. I am sure that any parent with children this age knows the terror that brings for the parent. You are letting your baby go out in a huge machine on the road with a whole lot of other people in machines they may or may not know how to use properly. You hope you have prepared them well with your driving lessons and that they will know how to get from one place to another. You also try and provide them with the safest car you can. Then you just have to turn it over. It is a tough thing to do, but eventually you notice you are not having a panic attack every time they leave the driveway and you begin to have confidence in their ability to drive.

 

At the Laser and Vein Center we have three new "machines" that our staff are now driving: Ultherapy to tighten skin, PicoSure for tattoo and pigment removal, and the Inifinity for laser hair removal. Thanks to our extraordinary staff I am suffering no anxiety about rolling out this new technology to our clients. First of all we are very lucky to have Dr. Prasad choosing our technology for us. He has a background in electrical engineering along with his medical training, and has a great sense for weeding through the market of available options and choosing the equipment that is best set to deliver results. But what we also have, that I believe is most crucial, is a passionate staff who takes training and education very seriously. They not only pride themselves on being experts at using the technology we have, but also making sure that the people who are purchasing these treatments using this technology are good candidates and educated on how to get the most out of what the machine has to offer. No matter what the technology is, it is useless if the operator doesn't know how, when and for whom to use it. It is hard to believe that fall is just a few short weeks away, especially as the temperature hits near 100 today. Summer, my favorite time of the year, always goes by way too fast. Our twins are back in school and last week we moved Rachel to Missouri State University in Springfield. It is so bittersweet; we are so excited for her, but miss her terribly at home. It is definitely going to take a little time to adjust for all of us.

After all of my fun in the sun this summer, I was due for a Skin Rejuvenation maintenance treatment. I noticed amazing peppering and almost complete reduction of my two bothersome brown spots. With the continued use of my Lytera, Retinol and TNS, I really feel like my skin has never been in better shape. Next month I will begin a series of Rejuvenize Peels on my arms. I have a little bit of sun damage and scarring from keratosis pilaris. That's those ugly red bumps that can show up on your arms and legs, and I have dealt with them on my arms my entire life. The use of AHA/BHA Lotion and my Clarisonic brush have made a huge difference; now I am just hoping to improve the color a little bit. I will be taking before and after pics and am hopeful to share some wonderful results. Enjoy these last few weeks of summer and best wishes for a great school year.

Melting away the years - no, I'm not talking about the recent Missouri humidity, I'm talking about Ultherapy, an FDA-cleared ultrasound treatment that targets different levels of the skin cells, causing them to vibrate and generate heat.
