Welcome to Harambee, Ms. Maxwell!
|
Ms. Maxwell was excited for the opportunity to combine her faith with her passion for Social Studies: "It was a clear answer to prayer when I was offered the job at Harambee! What an amazing opportunity it is to play a role in what God is doing in the lives of the kids in this community!"
Ms. Maxwell especially enjoys integrating History and Bible instruction. As she notes, "Social Studies is valuable because it allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, how it got to be the way it is today, and the way human interaction between cultures has developed over time. Also, as the 6th grade Bible teacher, it has been interesting to see the way 6th grade History, the development of early civilizations, and the beginning of Genesis tie in with each other. When we read about the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and Hittites in Genesis, the students eyes lit up because we had learned about them in History class. It is evident that God is involved in human history, and he has a plan."
We are excited to see the impact Ms. Maxwell will have in the lives of our students, as she helps shape their understanding of these invaluable subjects. Welcome aboard!
