Nevada Judiciary Annual Report Released
The Nevada Supreme Court has released its Annual Report of the Nevada Judiciary for 2013. The report gives an overview of Nevada's court system, explains how Nevada's court system is funded, and outlines the work Nevada's trial judges and Supreme Court justices have done during the past fiscal year.
The report summarizes the 2013 legislative actions of significance to the Nevada judiciary. It also contains the text of the State of the Judiciary Message delivered by Chief Justice Pickering to the Nevada Legislature on March 1, 2013, and statistics provided by the trial courts.
The 52-page report is available to the public as a printed document at the Administrative Office of the Courts in Carson City or Las Vegas. It can also be accessed and downloaded from the Supreme Court website.

Appointment of Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices
The Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices has vacancies for a two-year term beginning January 2014. The Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada will appoint attorney members to fill the vacancies at its January 21 meeting.
The Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices was created to resolve ethical disputes arising in the course of campaigns for judicial office and to provide judges and aspirants to judicial office with advisory opinions regarding ethical matters that may arise in the ordinary course of judicial service or in the elective or appointment process. Each member is appointed for a two-year term with no member appointed to more than four consecutive terms.
Interested applicants should complete an online application form. Applications must be received by noon on January 8.

LRIS Public Service Grant Program
The State Bar of Nevada is accepting applications for the LRIS Public Service Grant Program. The grants will assist Nevada organizations in funding law-related public service and/or law-related educational activities. The bar grants awards annually on a "funds available" basis. All applications are subject to review and final approval by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada.

The Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education Welcomes Applicants
The state bar Board of Governors will make appointments to the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education (NBCLE). The NBCLE is a working board. Applicants must be willing to attend quarterly meetings and standing committee meetings. The applicants must also be willing to chair a standing committee.
Applicants should submit letters of interest and resumes to the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education at 457 Court St., 2nd Fl., Reno, NV 89501.

Family Law Institute for Judges and Lawyers
The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) is hosting the Family Law Institute for Judges and Lawyers March 2-5, 2014, in Monterey, California.
The 2014 program features wide-ranging topics, including an update on the activity of the U.S. Supreme Court. It will include sessions on child sexual abuse, cyberstalking, interviewing children, child toxic stress in high-conflict divorce and parentage in the test-tube era. There will also be sessions on the topics of marriage and divorce in a post-DOMA world, trauma-informed courts, virtual contact visitation plans, and judicial health and wellness.

State Bar of Nevada Holiday Hours
