Join City National Bank and Justice League of Nevada for a Free Reception
City National Bank and the Justice League of Nevada are teaming up to host a free reception on Thursday, November 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at City National Bank's Summerlin office, located at 10801 W. Charleston Blvd. Las Vegas. Space is limited, so those interested in attending should RSVP by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (702) 384-1204.
The event will provide members of the southern Nevada legal community with information about the services City National Bank offers to lawyers and law firms and of the impact the Justice League of Nevada makes through its grants to legal aid and law-related education organizations throughout the state. Two of the Justice League's 2013 grantees, Safe Nest and Project REAL, will also be highlighted at the reception, and members of the Nevada Supreme Court, Eighth Judicial District Court, and State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors will be in attendance.

Nevada Legal Services and Boyd Law School Present Free Tax CLE
Nevada Legal Services and UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law are pleased to host "Present Tax Controversies: Navigating the Process." The three-credit-hour CLE seminar will take place on Thursday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Boyd School of Law Moot Courtroom, located at 4505 South Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas.
This seminar is intended for those interested in learning the basics of tax controversies and is free to any attorney agreeing to take on a pro bono case or to provide several hours of counseling. For those who don't wish to volunteer, tuition is $75.

The Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education Welcomes Applicants
The state bar Board of Governors will make appointments to the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education (NBCLE). The NBCLE is a working board. Applicants must be willing to attend quarterly meetings and standing committee meetings. The applicants must also be willing to chair a standing committee.
Applicants should submit letters of interest and resumes to the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Educations at 457 Court St., 2nd Fl., Reno, NV 89501.

Ninth Circuit Practice Guide Now Available Free to Attorneys
Attorneys can now access the Appellate Lawyer Representatives' Ninth circuit Practice Guide free of charge.
The new guide was developed, in consultation with court staff, by the Ninth Circuit's Appellate Lawyer Representatives. It is available to the public, free of charge through the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals website.
The publication provides an outline of the appellate process and detailed information about many of the court's procedures. The 112-page guide includes sections on motions practice, emergency proceedings, brief drafting, oral argument, the post-decisional process, habeas corpus proceedings, and checklists for drafting and filing motions and briefs.
