Litigation Section General Meeting
The Litigation Section of the State Bar of Nevada is holding its next meeting on September 25, from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., at the offices of Holland & Hart, LLP in both Reno and Las Vegas. The two offices will be connected by video-conference and lunch will be provided at both locations.
Judge Jay S. Bybee of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will be the guest speaker at the event. Bybee will give attendees an inside view of how the Ninth Circuit operates. He will also discuss the court's workload, how cases are weighed and more.

Las Vegas CLE: Diversity Perspectives from Specialty Bars
A distinguished panel of legal professionals committed to diversity presents "Breaking the Perry Mason Mold: Diversity Perspectives from Specialty Bars" on Friday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attendees will earn two CLE credits while learning how unconscious bias manifests and studying strategies to address that bias. A networking luncheon will follow the seminar at 12 p.m. Visit the state bar's website to register and learn more.

Free CLE Double Feature
Nevada Legal Services will present a two-part CLE seminar on
Monday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UNLV Student Union. "Poverty Simulation Ethics and the Basics of Landlord Tenant Law and Public Benefits" includes an interactive two-hour poverty simulation, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A three-hour general credit CLE on landlord-tenant law and public benefits law will follow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Both sessions are free for attorneys and law students. Non-attorneys may attend for a fee of $50. Participating attorneys can earn up to five CLE credits, including one ethics credit.

SNAWA Honors Justice Miriam Shearing
Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys (SNAWA) will honor former Nevada Supreme Court Justice Miriam Shearing during a gala taking place on Saturday, September 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of Mariteresa Rivera-Rogers. The association is recognizing Shearing for both her pioneering achievements and her dedication to SNAWA.

All proceeds from the gala will benefit SNAWA's scholarship fund.

Las Vegas Justice Court Service Counter Expands Hours
The Las Vegas Justice Court officially expanded its service counter hours on Thursday, August 1. The service counter, which serves criminal and civil divisions, will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). The court's telephone service will be available until 4 p.m. daily.
The Las Vegas Justice Court Service Center is located on the second floor of the Regional Justice Center.

Nevada Attorney General to Speak at St. Thomas Moore Society Luncheon
Attorney general Catherine Cortez Masto will speak at a St. Thomas Moore Society of Las Vegas luncheon on Thursday, September 19 at 11:30 a.m. At the event, which will take place at the offices of Lewis and Roca in Las Vegas, Cortez Masto will share her insights on ethics and integrity in her current position as chief law enforcement officer of the state of Nevada.
