Project Salute Needs Volunteers
The Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada and Nevada Legal Services are partnering with the Access to Justice Commission and the Southern Nevada Senior Law Project to bring Project Salute to Nevada for the second consecutive year.
During the Project Salute event, volunteer attorneys will provide advice and legal assistance to veterans seeking to obtain Veteran Affairs benefits. The event will take place on Monday, November 11, in both Las Vegas and Reno.
Volunteer attorneys will need to be accredited through the Veteran's Administration; the process requires the completion of a brief application form. Those wishing to volunteer are urged to complete their applications as soon as possible, as the accreditation process can take 90 days or more.
To satisfy the VA's requirement that accredited attorneys participate in a three-hour CLE within 12 months of certification, clinic participants are invited to attend a three-credit CLE webinar on veteran's benefits, to take place on October 9. This webinar is free for event volunteers.
Those interested in volunteering in southern Nevada may contact Carmela Reed at creed@nlslaw.net; those in northern Nevada may contact Renee Kelly at rkelly@nlslaw.net. VA accreditation applications and additional information about accreditation can be found on the VA's website.
