Second Judicial District Court Launches Domestic Violence Outreach Program

A new court-originated program is working to raise awareness of domestic violence among Washoe County's young people.

Family Division domestic violence court masters Sue Edmondson and Casey Campbell collaborated with Supervising Judge Linda M. Gardner to develop the Domestic Violence Outreach Program for Teens. They started work on the program two years ago.

The program's goal is to raise awareness of the issue by meeting with students at every Washoe County high school and middle school during the 2013/2014 school year. The first outreach event took place last month at Reno High School. Gardner's presentation focused on domestic violence issues, but she also spent time answering student questions on other issues involving the family court, including child support and delinquency.

To learn more about Domestic Violence Outreach for Teens, or to schedule a presentation, contact Stephenie Broome at (775) 325-6788.
