Get Connected at the 2013 Annual Meeting
What better way to connect with YOUR bar than by attending the Annual Meeting, July 25-27, at Harvey's Hotel & Casino in Lake Tahoe. This is an opportunity to learn more about YOUR Board of Governors, colleagues, member benefits and continuing education, and to meet with sponsors and vendors.
The State Bar of Nevada is giving its members another way to connect during this year's meeting: social media. Attendees will have the opportunity to network through Facebook and Twitter before, during and after the meeting. Share your thoughts, converse with fellow attendees and discover more ways to make the most of the Annual Meeting.
Take part in the action by connecting with us on Facebook at statebarofnevada and follow us on Twitter: @nevadabar. When tweeting about the Annual Meeting use hashtag #SBNannual2013.

Eighth Judicial District Court Recognized for High Performance
|Eighth Judicial District Court Chief Executive Officer Steven D. Grierson and District Court Chief Judge Jennifer P. Togliatti with the Star Award.|
Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court won the prestigious Star Award for high performance. The executive board of the Nevada Association of Court Executives (NACE) selects award recipients based on creativity, innovation, high performance, positive contributions to the judiciary and sound leadership.
NACE praised the court for its strong and sound judicial leadership, its innovative specialty courts, its fiscal responsibility and important technological innovations, including its move toward mandatory electronic filing and the creation of Courtfinder, a free smartphone app that puts the daily dockets in the palm of users' hands.
The Eighth Judicial District Court is one of the busiest courts in the nation. Fifty-two judges preside over nearly 100,000 criminal, civil and family cases filed each year in district court. For more information about the court, visit its website.
Nevada Lawyer Military Service List: Don't be Left Out!
Nevada Lawyer's November issue coincides with Veteran's Day, and the magazine editors would like take this opportunity, as in years past, to recognize State Bar of Nevada members with military backgrounds.
If you serve or have served in the U.S. military, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your e-mail should include:
- Your full name as you would like it to appear,
- Your bar number, and
- Your branch of service (only one will be included, so select the one you would most like to see listed).
- Please also let us know if you served as a Judge Advocate General (JAG).
We would love to see photos, if you have them. Photos must be of members during their time in military service, preferably in uniform (no law firm portraits). They must be submitted in high-res digital format (600 KB - 2 MB). Preference will be given to photos that have not appeared in previous issues.
Please remember that the state bar does not keep records of military service, nor do we keep a running, updated list. We only know what our members tell us each year.
If you want to be included, you must send us your information this year, regardless of what has appeared in years past. The deadline is September 14.
