Law Day Volunteers Needed to Speak to Students on Civil Rights and the Law
Law Day 2013 is May 1, 2013. This year's Law Day theme is "Realizing the Dream: Equality for All."
2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Law Day provides an opportunity for students to explore America's civil rights movement and its impact. It also provides a forum for reflecting on the work that remains to be done in rectifying injustice, eliminating all forms of discrimination, and putting an end to human trafficking and other violations of our basic human rights.
State Bar of Nevada members can be a part of this year's Law Day events. Organizers are seeking attorneys to visit second through 12th graders in schools across the state. They will talk to students about this year's theme and how it relates to the practice of law.
To volunteer or learn more, contact Kathleen Dickinson at kathleend@nvbar.org.
