Month/Year
Greetings!

For me, "AHA" moments are like candies that sweeten my life. Once recognized, similar "AHA's" seem to appear from everywhere. Yesterday, Bob Proctor in his "Six Minutes to Success" video talked about paradigms or beliefs and they determine your success or lack of it.

Henry Ford's famous quotation immediately came to mind, "If you think you can or you think you cannot, you are correct." How simple! Our lives boil down to belief!!

Today I got an e-mail telling me about the first session of my pilot program between mentors and mentees for Kids Mentoring Kids in a local urban school. This is what she wrote:

Here are a few of their comments:

From the Mentors on what the program has meant to them so far -

"I've met new kids and I've learned that I can be a better leader myself, for the program."

"I like the fact that I can be trusted and that I can help someone else."

" I have increased my leadership potential, increased my confidence in myself by helping someone else."

" I know that I need someone to talk to sometimes - being there for someone else is great."

"I've learned that I can be a bigger person, a person to go in a time of trouble."

To prepare the juniors for becoming mentors, I spent five 45-minute sessions working with them after school. Notice that their comments relate to finding a strength within themselves. Once they believe they possess this quality, that quality becomes theirs for forever. That's exciting!!

During their training, I told them about putting a flea in a jar with a lid. The flea will jump up and hit its head repeatedly. Once it stops, the flea will never jump again, even if the lid is removed. It now believes it will hit the lid, so it won't even try.

Think of the huge elephants with a rope or small chain around its leg, tied to a stake in the ground. Why doesn't he pull it out? He believes he can't because he couldn't as a baby elephant, therefore, he believes he can't now.

How many of us have a chain tied around our legs, put there in our childhood or many years ago? What do you believe that is keeping you from succeeding in a particular area?

If you're not sure, take a few minutes and answer questions related to an area where you'd like to succeed?

What are my beliefs about money?
What are my beliefs about earning money doing what I love to do?
What are my beliefs about being happy?
What are my beliefs about finding true love?
What are my beliefs about _______________ (insert any area of your life, goal, project, wish, desire, dream and write out what you believe about the topic.) You may be surprised at your responses.

AHA: my beliefs determine what I do in life. How about that?

Happy, happy,
Gail

Feature Article:

THE AUDIENCE

Your audience will consist of people with a need:
not enough money, love; too much stress, too little recognition, lack of skills and/or proficiency.

What do they want?  What are they missing in their lives?  What hurts?  What are they yearning for? And what do they worry about most?

Your presentation has been developed to address those needs.  That is why you must be knowledgeable about your target audience.

As mentioned previously, you should know the profile of your target audience: age, sex, residence, industry, occupation, education, position, income level, and career experience.

Everything in your presentation must be geared toward the promised benefit.

Be aware that Rotary Clubs need 52 speakers a year!

Next week, I'll give you a list of places to contact to book your talks and seminars.
