Month/Year
Greetings!

What an exciting week!! Politics aside, the election to the highest office in the land of this bright young man, Barack Obama, a man of color, a man of a mixed racial background, removes a psychological barrier to untold millions of young people of different ethnicities in this country. There no longer is an excuse for anyone who lives here not to try and reach their greatest desires. Each person is limited only by his or her own beliefs. Exciting, exciting, exciting!!!

This week my husband and I attended a fantastically successful dinner-silent auction gala as guests of a gentleman whose generosity turned around an organization that one year ago was about to close its doors because of lack of funding and volunteers. Not only did he sponsor two tables of guests for $3,000 but also he made possible the hiring of a part-time PR person who, in one year, made this the "in" organization to belong to and work for as a volunteer.

One lesson learned from this agency's experience is about the importance of selling the positives of yourself or your business. By concentrating on three things: 1) the mission, effectiveness, and successes of the organization, 2) the people who do participate, and 3) the people who do benefit, this PR gal painted a whole new picture to the community via her uplifting articles in the local papers. Her stories made readers want to be a part of this wonderful organization, wanted to help others, wanted to do the ultimate--make a difference.

This philanthropist set up a foundation in the name of his son whom he lost on 9/11 at the World Trade Center; and in doing so, has made possible the continued existence and more often the enhanced existence of charitable organizations which help many, many people in our area. His generosity touches lives; he truly makes a difference!

This organization is Contact We Care, a 24/7 hotline for those who are depressed, lonely, suicidal, or just need someone to talk to. It is run by a person everyone admires and respects--David Owens. He, too, can be credited with the turn-around of this group.

Have a wonderful week! For me, it's a huge three-day class reunion coming up. Hope it's as much fun as I'm anticipating!

Happy, Happy,
Gail

TEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE SPEAKERS

by Gail Cassidy

Stephen Covey's book, Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, is so "catchy" that I see variations of it for many titles, including this one.

This top ten list corroborates the lists I've written about the past few weeks regarding what it takes to be successful in the seminar business.

This is a list written by Sandra Schrift, CoachU Graduate and entrepreneur (http://www.schrift.com) who wrote The Ten Habits of Highly Effective Speakers.

1.    Have a passion for your subject.

2.    Be persistent in your quest to be a speaker of excellence.

3.    Have the patience to succeed.

4.    Speak from your heart.

5.    Connect quickly with your audience.

6.    Prepare thoroughly.

7.    Speak to the ways people learn: auditory, visual and kinesthetic.

8.    Support your main points with stories.  People love stories and they
       remember them.

9.    Make it fun, even if it's a serious topic.

10.   Have a reverence for the work you do.

Talks, seminars, and workshops are fun things to do. In addition to the revenue they generate, they are also very satisfying. Again, upon completion of your programs, you do experience the satisfaction of knowing that you have made a difference in someone's life in your audience.

For more about the basics of speaking, look at You Cannot NOT Communicate, a 14-week course prepared to be delivered to any group, young or old.

Quote of the Day

Make a game of finding something positive in every situation. Ninety-five percent of your emotions are determined by how you interpret events to yourself.

RECOMMENDATION:

Let me ask you something...

If you were just one step away from reaching your goal of flooding your life with wealth, would you take that step?

How do you know, right now, that you're not?

What a shame it would be to stop making the effort, when just a little bit more would make it all worthwhile. I'm into my third week.

What a shame it would be to have taken all those steps, only to miss this very last one.

This next step you take may very well be the one that makes all the others count.

You owe it to yourself, and the efforts you've made, to take this step.

Its simple... go to this website and read my entire letter from top to bottom.  I promise you - you'll be a changed person for the better.

Warmly,

Gail

P.S. Don't delay - run to that website now.  At some point success is just one step away. Keep going and you'll be there.

P.P.S. There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, caution lights called family, and you will have flats called jobs.

But, if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith, and a driver called God, you will make it to a place called success.   Go to this website right now - http://store.sixminutestosuccess.com/?aid=581522
