Greetings!

You are receiving this first issue because you are my friend and your name is from my own address book or you were on my Profit From Your Passion ezine list from four years ago. My address book friends may be wondering where my usual "forward" or new news is. The only thing new right now (other than my new grandson) is a revival of my weekly ezine, except I've changed the old Profit From Your Passion ezine to The Seminar Source starting today.

What else has changed is the  purpose of each publication - from focusing on individuals discovering and earning money from their passion to a far broader scope--helping people grow their businesses or passions and earn money through giving talks or holding seminars or workshops. This would also be of interest to those who would like to share their knowledge and experience through talks, seminars, and/or workshops.

Each week I will share with you tips for seminar set-ups and delivery, and also will provide ready-made programs that you can adapt for your audience, from my new book, Profit From Your Passion ideas to classes where you can offer speaking and imaging, Autobiographical Journaling Salons (they are a lot of fun, especially in senior citizen centers!), mentoring, communication workshops and so much more.

Holding seminars and workshops is fun, especially if you are either a small business owner or a "wanderer." I fall into both categories. Having children in two different states is my impetus to schedule programs near where they live. What greater way to travel! With a three-month old first grandchild, my focus will be on  scheduling programs in the North Carolina area. Other times I'll spend time with my daughter in the mountains of Colorado. I'll let you know more about that.

Again, this newsletter is called The Seminar Source and appears weekly with tips and hints on how to start or how to enhance your own seminar(s) or seminar business. I will also continue to include tips for discovering your passion.

If you are interested in looking at an issue or receiving issues each Sunday, click on the link at the bottom. They will then verify that you are a real person and not a spammer by asking you to opt-in by clicking their address.

If you know of anyone who would be interested, have them send an email to gail@coachability.com. You can also "unsubscribe" at any time.

Happy, happy,
Gail

Feature Article: TRAINING - A MultiBILLION Dollar Industry

by Gail Cassidy
When people ask me what I do, I usually say, "I help small business owners increase their client base and their revenues by using talks, workshops, and seminars to promote their business and help their customers best utilize their products or services."

No matter what business you're in, you can increase your exposure, credibility, and client base by including talks, seminars, or workshops in your offerings. Currently, the training business is a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR a year business, according to Training Magazine.  More than $10 to $20 billion of those dollars is for personal growth--which could be your potential area of expertise, no matter what business you're in.

The American Self-Help Clearinghouse lists more than 1,000 Self-Help groups worldwide. Self-Help groups benefit from seminars and workshops.  Amazon.com carries more than 20,000 Self-Help titles.

Your client base increases when you include practical training on products, perhaps the ones you market. And the number of customers increase even more when your own personnel are trained in human relation skills, e.g., ways to make your customers feel special.

I will forever be a devotee of Apple because of the training they offer and the way they immediately solve any problem I have with my computer. And most of all, they make me feel special every time I walk in their door. Every week I go for my training, and every time I am greeted by a  delightful, smiling young man who seems genuinely happy to see me, and I am convinced he makes every other person entering the store feel the same way. His welcome always makes my day. I feel good; I feel special, and this feeling is furthered by my own instructor, Kay. Of course, I'll always return. And, of course, I will always recommend their products.

If you interact with your clients face-to-face, on the phone, via e-mail, or in old-fashioned writing, you already know areas of communication where you can help them improve your skills, your employees' skills or your customers' skills.  Those who regularly hold seminars make large amounts of money. The seminar market is huge. To continue reading, go to www.coachability.com and click on ARTICLES.

Gail Recommends:

For my first issue only, I am going to recommend my own program, You Cannot NOT Communicate, a 6-week F*REE beta Teleseminar; first, because it will cost you nothing, and second because this program could be the base for whatever you intend to hold seminars on. The actual You Cannot NOT Communicate is a 14-week program on speaking and imaging, with a heavy concentration on attitude and non-verbal communication--all done in a positive, fun manner.

The course provides sections that can be extracted and used for training individually, or the program can be presented as a whole.

Each session begins with three human relation Tips and ends with testimonials from those who have taken the course. The impact the learning has on others is tremendously satisfying to you, the presenter. I hope you will join me June 16 through July 21. Classes will be recorded in the event you have to miss a session.

This class is limited to 30 participants so significant interaction can take place. Currently 8 slots are taken. Send me an e-mail at gail@coachability.com if you are interested in attending.

PS: Gail's Passion:

What has been most exiting and rewarding for me during my many years of training in high schools, for IBM, for an international training corporation, and for non-profits, were opportunities to work with "at risk" teens and young adults--a source of untapped (and frequently lost) talent. My passion is teaching and writing, but more specifically, my passion is helping to maximize the potential of this special group.

Background: When I taught high school English, I preferred working with "disaffected," uninterested kids because that's where I received the greatest satisfaction--getting kids excited about Shakespeare or vocabulary.

When I left teaching, I wrote two books on teaching English, and to test them, went to our local VoTech adult school for high school dropouts. The students I met were the roughest, toughest kids I've ever seen. They did not buy into my books at all. The books failed miserably, and I still had the rest of the semester to go.

I then brought in Discover Your Passion, my first book, and taught English from it. The results were amazing. This was a program about them, their strengths, interests, wants, likes, and dislikes. There were no wrong answers. Everybody succeeded; nobody failed. The "English" aspect was handled with separate grades--one for content (almost always great), and the other grade was for grammar (eh!). And they improved in the "eh" area!!

The bottom line is I found some incredible talent amongst these kids who were awaiting trial, sentencing, or who were on parole. I was easily able to find something special in almost every single one of these kids (ages 18 to 25).

As a result of my experiences, I wrote three books that would be perfect for "at risk" kids. The  Validating Mentor provides validation; Profit From Your Passion provides direction, and You Cannot NOT Communicate provides communication skills. My challenge is getting the books to the kids.

I write blog entries, AtRiskKids.com, each time I read another article about gangs, juvenile crime, and high school dropouts. I've written letters to officials and have heard from only one. It's very frustrating, but if I can catch one reader's attention who can help these 50% of the kids who don't make it through our school systems, I would be delighted. Wouldn't it be great to be able to utilize that lost talent!

If this is, or could be, your passion, please let me know at gail@coachability.com.
