MUSIC THIS SUNDAY

The opening hymn "Father eternal, Ruler of creation" is related to the gospel reading from Matthew 22. The Offertory hymn "Earth and all Stars" is related to the 1st reading from Isaiah. This hymn was written for the 90th anniversary of St. Olaf College which accounts for the extraordinary amount of educational references. The Communion hymns "I sought the Lord" and "O for a closer walk with God" are related to the 2nd reading from 1 Thessalonians. The final hymn is a new paraphrase of Psalms 149 & 150 by British hymn writer Michael Parry and fulfills the command in the Psalm 96: "Sing a new song". The Anthem is the setting of the Shaker hymn "Love is Little" by Kevin Siegfried. The Voluntaries are 2 chorale preludes written in his last days by Johannes Brahms. The opening "O blest are Ye whose toils are ended" remembers the saints who've recently "crossed the bar." The closing is the ebullient setting of another old German chorale "My heart is filled with joy."

COUNTRY CUPBOARD FAIR-NOVEMBER 22ND
Crafters welcome on Tuesday mornings
Preparations continue for our annual fair on November 22nd.  Crafters meet every Tuesday morning from 9-11 and all are welcome.  We would love your participation in the preparations, before, during or after the fair.  Please contact Gwen Kopka or Adele Ervin.

Silent Auction items needed
Please consider a donation to St. John's of any new or Paintings/works of art gently used items for the Auction.  We especially are looking for small antiques, beautiful works of art, unique crafts, distinctive books, or items that may entice people to bid.  Please bring your donation to the church office by November 10 to be sure to have them included in the bidding.  If you have any questions please see Catherine McGeary or Mary Cole.  Thank you.

Be Jeweled
Jewelry Happy Autumn to you all.  We hope you are enjoying these beautiful clear days!  And now the time has come to ask for your help in adorning our lovely jewelry tables.  Any gently used jewelry that you are no longer using would be very much appreciated-the earlier we get any contributions, the better we can present them.  Any items can be dropped off at the office, Monday thru Thursday from 8 am to noon.

Thanking you in advance for your help, see you at the Fair!
