school funding
What can you do to support programs for our students in PUSD?
You can donate to our District Education Foundation, PPIE.

Other comparable communities ask their families for over $500 per student - and they have a very high participation rate!

If you can't give that much up front, you can donate what you can through our monthly donation program.  Every bit helps!

Contributing to PPIE helps insulate our students from the unstable and inadequate funding that the state has been providing the past 5 years, and helps to enhance educational programs.  Need more info?  Check out the PPIE website at

Greetings!

Donlon Elementary wins
the Popsicles for Participation Award!

During our Walk-Thru Registration Giving Fund Campaign Kick-off, Donlon Elementary had the most families donating and so wins our prize - a popsicle party!  PPIE will be at Donlon on October 9th right after school to provide popsicles for all the students - we can't wait!  Thank you to all the Donlon families, the fabulous volunteers, and Principal Lynnette Chirrick!

In addition, we'd like to announce the publication of our Annual Giving Fund 2014-15 Donor List - check it out!  And it is never too late to add your name to our list of generous donors - we update it frequently.

Plus - Don't forget - October is the month many local companies focus on Corporate Matching - you could double your donation with your employer's help!
Volunteer Opportunities
Donate your time!
Have a few hours to spare?  PPIE has many activities throughout the year that require volunteer assistance. Currently, the "Toasts & Tastes of Fall" committee could use help in several areas.

Just a few hours of your time per week over the next 3 weeks will guarantee our event is a success!

If you can help, contact Susan Hayes and she'll connect you with the committee chair...
  • Silent Auction (donor follow up calls, auction lot assembly, auction lot cataloguing, pre-event set-up)
  • Registration Process Preparation (for volunteers, participants, and attendees - name tags, registration lists, signage, pre-event set-up)
  • Decorations (assist chairperson with concept and decor items, volunteers for set-up and break-down for event)

Toasts & Tastes of Fall

What's for dinner? How about Dijon encrusted lamb or Steak Jalisco? Maybe something light like eggplant stew with saffron rice or coconut curried prawns? And for dessert, why not enjoy a lemon tartlette, chocolate clair, or a mini gluten-free cupcake? On October 19th, you can sample them all in one place - at Toasts & Tastes of Fall! We'll be eating well thanks to participating chefs from fine restaurants, bakeries and caterers such as Wente, Pans on Fire, Primrose Bakery, Blue Agave Club, Mangia Mi, The Hopyard, Forno Vecchio and Valley Catering! Tickets are on sale now!

Bon Appetit! Culinary Competition & Auction
October 19th, 6:30-10:00 pm
California Center, Pleasanton

Deadline to order tickets is October 12th!

You'll join our official judges and taste your way through signature dishes and desserts paired with fine wines - poured, paired and presented with the help of your school's principal!

Live music, a no-host bar and Silent Auction round out the evening. Auction lots feature travel, dining and activity opportunities for the entire family - along with memorabilia, wine and specially-selected goods and services - many of which you will take home that night.

Event proceeds benefit the foundation and its programs supporting the Pleasanton Unified School District.

Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased online or by personal check, made out to PPIE and noting "Toasts & Tastes" in the memo line. Mail checks to PPIE, 333 Division Street, Pleasanton, CA 94566. Names will be placed on a guest list at the event- no hard tickets will be mailed.

EFC Video Spotlight
We love our volunteers!
The Education Foundation Committee (EFC) is comprised of PPIE representatives, teachers, and administrators from each school site. The group meets every few months and is organized by school level - elementary, middle, and high school. The mission of the EFC is to share information, observations, and trends and to make Annual Giving Fund recommendations to the board of PPIE.  Who is your EFC rep?  You can see the complete membership list on our website.

But today we'd like to share a video spotlight on Mohr's EFC Rep, Soojin Stadermann!

In fact, we have an additional $55,000 expected to come in through pledges and corporate matching!  We are making some great progress towards our 2014-15 Giving Fund Goals.

We continue to make progress towards our goal of at least 25% of families participating.  We are currently at 10% - so we still have some room for improvement during the upcoming months.  Please encourage your friends to join us by using our link.

Thank you to our Corporate Sponsors!
We encourage you to show your appreciation for their continued support!
