"Rekindling Our Fire:  A 5-Year Plan for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting 2015-2020" envisions us as a faith community committed to deepening spiritually, welcoming newcomers, building supportive and inclusive community, and providing loving service and faithful witness to the world.

In this issue of PYM Today Online you will find resources to introduce you to the Plan including a link to the full text of the Plan document.  We call upon all Friends to come to Annual Sessions well prepared, as preparation is key to Spirit-lead discernment.

We hope you will come to Annual Sessions where the Plan will be considered for approval.

We Invite You to Participate
"Rekindling Our Fire:  A 5-Year Plan for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting 2015-2020" is a primary item that will be before us during Annual Sessions.

We are planning multiple opportunities during Annual Sessions for Friends to be part of the process, including open conversations, threshing and consideration for approval: 
  • Open Conversations with the Planning Group, Thursday and Friday, 1:00-2:15 pm in the Plenary Room. These conversations offer a time to ask questions and discuss points of the plan.
  • Threshing the PlanSaturday 9:30-12:00 noon.  The morning agenda item in our meeting for worship with attention to business will focus on reviewing and threshing the plan.
  • Consideration for Approval, Saturday 3:15-5:00 pm. The afternoon agenda item is to come to a decision about the 5-Year Plan for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.

We invite you to join any and all of these opportunities for discovery, discussion and discernment concerning the 5-Year Plan for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.  Please join the discussions at Annual Sessions! 

 

Employment Opportunities

Philadelphia Yearly Meeting currently has two opportunities we seek to fill as soon as possible.

Associate Secretary for Program and Religious Life.  The Associate Secretary plays a leadership role in framing, articulating and championing a vision of Quaker faith, practice and witness that inspires, connects and nurtures our faith community; and leads and supervises a team of program and administrative staff.  It is a full-time position with benefits that requires active membership, a Bachelor's degree and five or more years of relevant experience.  Find out more.

Young Adult Friends Coordinator.  The Young Adult Friends (YAF) Coordinator will will be responsible for stewarding meaningful relationships among Quakers ages 18-35.  This is a part-time position with benefits that requires active participation in the Quaker community, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and three or more years of relevant experience.  Find out more.
