BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Twin Rivers Unified School District

1.  Twin Rivers Unified School District Scholarship Athletes

 

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, TRUSD had four students sign full athletic scholarships to three different division 1 universities. Twin Rivers recognized these students for their dedication in the classroom and on the athletic field as they prepare to graduate and move on to college.

 

2. Superintendent's Report - Special Board Election Area 5

 

Superintendent Steve Martinez gave a report on the special election calendar and ballot submission. This item will be placed on the Feb. 24 board agenda for approval.

3A.  ACTION - Health Benefit Plan Design Changes

 

Additional information related to Health Benefit Design Changes and increasing the monthly contribution for CSEA and POA was presented. The Board of Trustees approved the benefit plan changes as presented and increased the monthly contribution

3B.  PUBLIC HEARING and APPROVAL - Public Disclosure Management Certification and the "2014/2015" Tentative Agreement between Twin Rivers Unified School District and the Twin Rivers United Educators  

 

The Board reviewed and approved the Public Disclosure Certification and the "2014/15" Tentative Agreement between Twin Rivers Unified School District and the Twin Rivers United Educators.

 

The Agreement was ratified by the Twin Rivers United Educators on Jan. 29, 2015. Assembly Bill (AB) 1200 and AB 2756 require local educational agencies to publicly disclose the provisions of all collective bargaining agreements before entering into a written agreement.

4.  PRESENT - Twin Rivers Unified School District Parent Engagement Update   

 

Twin Rivers is taking a research-based approach to parent engagement, based upon the work from the Harvard Family Research Project and others. The presentation includes information on Parent University, Parent Education Nights, DELAC, PAC, and the upcoming Spring Parent Retreat.

 

 

 

5.  PRESENT - Technology Update

 

Twin Rivers has been successful in getting modern technology devices into the classrooms to help prepare students for the future and accommodate for upcoming California online state testing. With the purchase of the new laptops and carts, the district has brought equity of nearly 3:1 to all comprehensive sites.

6. DISCUSSION - Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee  

 

On Oct. 30, 2014, the Districts Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee accepted a resignation from Committee Member Lewis Sevina. To comply with the regulations of Proposition 39, the District will recruit a new member to fill the vacancy created by the resignation in the parent/guardian criteria. The District will now start advertising and will accept applications for 60 days, through April 10, 2015. If, after 60 days, multiple qualified applications have been received, the applicants will be brought to the Board for final appointment of one. Attached are the current members of the Citizens' Oversight Bond Committee.

7.  APPROVAL - Personnel Recommendations

 

The Board of Trustees approved all personnel recommendations. The recommendations included new hires, promotions, resignations and leaves.
