Spotlight on Una McAlinden
Principal Arts Leadership (PAL) Program
Featured Presenter at the May 22 Symposium
Under Una McAlinden's guidance and leadership as Executive Director of ArtsEd Washington/Washington Alliance for Arts Education, the organization has re-emerged as a force for good in Washington State, working directly with school leaders to support them in building strong arts programs as well as influencing policy-makers about the importance of arts for a complete education. Una recently completed a 3-year term on the Network Leadership Committee for the KCAAEN (Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network), and co-chaired their Advocacy Committee during this service.
Arts|Learning is collaborating with ArtsEd Washington to adapt and implement their widely acclaimed Principal Arts Leadership (PAL) Program in Massachusetts. PAL is designed to educate and support school principals in nurturing sustainable school arts programs. Each participating principal creates and actively leads a school arts team, which in turn develops and implements an annual arts school plan under the mentorship of a PAL coach.
The school principal is recognized as the instructional leader in the arts and PAL offers the support needed to sustain powerful arts programming. Working with each school's leadership, PAL helps develop an ongoing annual plan for arts education and provides the tools to get there.
Una will be doing a one-hour plenary session during the Arts|Learning Symposium on May 22 on the PAL program. You don't want to miss this important session!
