Who are we?
Parents Unite for the Arts (Parents Unite) is a Massachusetts network of individual parents and parent arts groups who are involved in their schools and districts to support arts education (dance, drama, media, music, visual art). As a statewide network, we support local efforts and provide advocacy training for advancing and strengthening arts education across Massachusetts. Funded by a generous grant from Hunt Alternatives Fund, this is a joint project between Young Audiences of Massachusetts, Arts|Learning, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

What Can We Do for You?
Due to our grant this year from Hunt Alternatives Fund, we are able to offer many ways of helping you to either organize a new parent support group for the arts in your community, or help strengthen an existing one:
  • Provide training to parents through webinars and presentations locally and regionally
  • Work with parent support groups on developing a strategic plan by using the A|L Advocacy Toolkit
  • Link groups within close geographic areas together to network and share best practices
  • Provide models of by-laws, how to incorporate as a non-profit organization
  • How to prepare public service announcements and press releases
  • How to approach public officials such as town managers, town councils, mayors, school committee members to advocate for your arts programs,
  • How to access research validating the importance of an arts education.
  • Once-yearly training and networking day for representatives of various parent-support groups to attend.
If you have specific needs, send us an email at info@artslearning.org and we will see how we can best adapt our work to address your specific concerns.
What Can You Do for Us?
We're just like you. We're parents, retirees, students, teachers, teaching artists, performers...you name it. But the one thing we all have in common is our dedication to giving every child in our schools equal access to a balanced education in and through the arts, regardless of background or economic status.

Please consider becoming a member of the Parents Unite network today!  Just fill out our brief survey, whether you are an individual or an organization supporting the arts in your local school or community.  It will take you less than 5 minutes!  That is all there is to it!
