New toys from Skip Hop are also here! The 10-piece wooden Match & Play Puzzle lets little ones match animals with their homes, and the puzzle pieces also stand alone as animal blocks for kids with a little extra imagination. The Treetop Friends Busy Bead Tree teaches coordination as tiny hands guide animal beads through the tree. Both toys feature solid wood pieces, modern designs, and the Skip Hop quality we've come to rely on.

Breastfeeding mom Local, renewable and free
...

By Adam Prochaska, President, MilkWorks Board of Directors

Earth Day began with a desire to advocate for a healthy, sustainable environment. Earth Day continues because of our desire to protect that which we hold sacred - our Earth.

Breastfeeding is an essential part of a healthy, sustainable environment. Breastfed children are more resistant to disease and infection and less likely to contract diseases later in life. Breastmilk isn't made in a factory - it is produced naturally by a mother's body. It is local and renewable. Breastfeeding rates will continue to rise if we choose to protect those whom we hold sacred - our earth and our children.

As you celebrate Earth Day with your friends and family, think about the many ways that you can support the mothers around you who have chosen to breastfeed. Encourage them, help them find support when they need it, honor them when they take a pumping break at work, and thank them for making the world a healthier and more sustainable place for all of us.

New MilkWomen at MilkWorks

We have some new faces at MilkWorks!

Leah
Leah
Leah Shrader
is a new Lactation Consultant. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a degree in Family Studies, Leah was intrigued with the wonders of breastmilk, so she pursued lactation education to become a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and then an IBCLC. Leah has been working with breastfeeding mothers since 2006 and has become passionate about the breastfeeding relationship between mother and baby. Leah is pursuing her BSN at the University of Nebraska Medical Center - Lincoln. When Leah is not studying or helping breastfeeding moms she enjoys scrapbooking, anything crafty, and live music.

Elsbeth
Elsbeth
Elsbeth Magilton
received her B.A. from Doane College in 2008. She earned her J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law and received a concentration in Cyberlaw. She is currently the Executive Director of Space, Cyber, & Telecommunications Law Program at the University of Nebraska College of Law and joined MilkWorks part-time as the Operations Assistant. She is primarily responsible for processing insurance billings, assisting with pump rentals, and generally helping around the office. Elsbeth fell in love with MilkWorks in May of 2012 when she and her husband received assistance with a pump rental during their son's stay in the NICU. In her spare time Elsbeth is a science fiction, technology, and space nut, produces a local film festival, and loves a great glass of wine.

Pim
Pim
Pim Rose
is originally from Thailand. She met her husband in Colorado, then moved to Lincoln to be close to her husband's family. While volunteering at Milkworks, Pim was very impressed by the friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Most of all she loves the Milkworks mission to help breastfeeding mothers in the community. At home, besides taking care of her daughter, she enjoys spending her time reading books, cooking, learning different cultures and volunteering for other non profit organizations. While English is not her native language, Pim is able to speak three other languages (Thai, French and Italian.) Pim loves babies and enjoys watching them communicate within their knowledge of the world.

Welcome Leah, Elsbeth and Pim!

Grandparents are welcome to attend also. Class meets once a week for 4 weeks at MilkWorks. Fee is $20 for a 4-week session. Call (402) 423-6402 to register.
