It's a wrap (or baby carrier)
Boba Wrap
Just like our diapers, we have recently put a lot of thought and research into our baby wearing products. What we have on our shelves we can really stand behind and educate families how to use them!  New to our lineup is the Boba Wrap. It is similar to the popular Moby Wrap, which we also carry. The materials of these two wraps stretch differently, so it is a matter of personal preference in finding the perfect choice. Other baby carriers include the Maya Wrap, a ring sling; the Beco Gemini baby carrier; and the Boba baby carrier. We'll help you find the one that is right for you! Demos are available in every carrier and size to try on in the store!

A HABA bear

Extra perk: machine washable and dryable! Titus is friends with the other soft HABA dolls and toys at babyworks!

New styles from Magnificent Baby

Too Old for Breast Milk?

We love hearing from parents who feel as though we have made a difference for them.

Earlier this year we received an unusual request. Ann, a breastfeeding
Ann and Angela
Ann and Angela
mom, returned to work when her daughter, Angela, was 3 months old.  When her daughter weaned, Ann had a freezer full of pumped milk.  Angela's care provider is licensed by the state and participates in the Nebraska Food Program. Because Angela was older than two years, the provider could not feed Angela her mother's milk because it was contrary to regulations, which require the feeding of 1% cow's milk. In order for her daughter to receive her milk, Ann had to submit signed documents and a diagnosis from her pediatrician indicating that Angela had a special medical or dietary need. Attorney Adam Prochaska, president of MilkWorks Board of Directors, helped Ann come up with a solution.

Read more, including Adam's blog post on the regulations impacting the use of breast milk in a child care setting.

 The World of Pumps

old and new breast pump
Breast pump ca. 1980 (left) and the Medela Freestyle ca.2012.

What a difference 30 years can make! From a hand held device that looks like a turkey baster (or a bicycle horn), to a cutting edge digital breast pump, breastfeeding mothers do have it easier today. It's no wonder that returning to work while breastfeeding was a challenge in the 1980's!

A special thank you is in order for the development of quality, comfortable breast pumps that actually work.

Why does MilkWorks only carry Medela breast pumps? We want moms to have confidence in their pump and we are constantly reviewing new pumps that are on the market. Medela has invested research dollars in their pump designs and stands behind their products with good customer service. MilkWorks will teach you how to use a breast pump  and we are able to file for pump coverage with certain insurance plans.

babyworks is an on-going fundraiser for MilkWorks. It supports our educational and clinical services, and allows us to be a community breastfeeding center. Thank you for buying gifts and baby supplies. Your purchases support MilkWorks and breastfeeding.
Yeah Suzy!

MilkWorks is proud to have four experienced, board certified lactation consultants, as well as our physician, Dr. Leeper,  who is a Fellow of the

Our "amazing" Suzy

American Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Every five years our lactation consultants must renew their certification. We extend our congratulations to Suzy Meyers, for passing her IBCLC re-certification exam this past month!

Facebook recently asked moms to share what helped when they had their second baby. Jana commented, "SUZY! She is amazing and our community is so blessed to have her! Suzy is so compassionate and is brilliant when it comes to solving breastfeeding problems."
