More than 300 Detroiters gather to have their say on Obama's My Brother's Keeper
|
Greetings!
On May 5, young men from across Detroit joined civic leaders in a conversation about their struggles and hopes for the future. The event was the first in a nationwide series of community listening nights in response to the White House initiative My Brother's Keeper. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan joined Broderick Johnson, head of the My Brother's Keeper Task Force, and foundation leaders at the event, in which four young Detroiters explained how they've felt at times like no one believed in them. See the full recap of the event here. Also, don't miss the Building a Beloved Community report on young men of color! It came out this week from the Foundation Center and BMA Funders.
