Neighborhood leaders call on candidates to put kids first
Will candidates work for kids after election?
Greetings!
Next week, Detroiters will go to the polls to elect a new mayor and city council. For the first time in decades, that city council will be elected by district, a chance to let residents in all corners of Detroit feel directly represented in their city's government. This election is also an opportunity to ask politicians to speak directly about how they will improve the lives of children.

That's what leaders from four neighborhoods are asking; that candidates will take on the Children's Agenda, and be clear about what they will do in education, safety, youth development and jobs. Those leaders held a press conference last week, and called on Detroit's two mayoral candidates to commit now to sitting down after the election for a town hall forum with children on the Children's Agenda. See video from the press conference here. You can also take the pledge yourself at www.detroitchildrensagenda.org. Share it with friends and remember to vote on Nov. 5!
