Allen to discuss solutions for Detroit, grantmkaing
as panelist
Skillman Foundation CEO Tonya Allen will discuss solutions for Detroit and the Foundation's grantmaking strategies in upcoming panel discussions. On Thursday, Allen will join other area leaders in the "Detroit Solution Driven" Open Air Forum at Eastern Market. The event, which begins at 6 p.m., is free to the public.

On Sept. 19, Allen joins NCRP executive director Aaron Dorfman and Conrad N. Hilton Foundation president and CEO Steve Hilton to discuss Philanthropy's Promise. More than 160 foundations have signed on to the initiative to show they are committed to providing at least half of their grant dollars to benefit underserved communities, and at least one quarter of their grant dollars for systemic change efforts involving advocacy, community organizing and civic engagement. The webinar begins at 2 p.m. and will focus on how foundations can maximize their impact with limited grant dollars. Online registration is required.
