Education Nation kicks off Friday in Detroit
NBC News' Education Nation is bringing a mini-Summit to Detroit this weekend, as local education, business, government and community leaders discuss a variety of education issues. The Skillman Foundation, an event sponsor, has been proud to welcome NBC to Detroit to showcase what's working in our local education reform efforts, says Tonya Allen, chief operating officer, in today's blog. Foundation partners such as Excellent Schools Detroit and Detroit Parent Network will be featured on the panels. Friday's event begins at 9:45 a.m. and will be streamed live on our website, www.skillman.org. "Job One: Preparing Michigan to Compete in the 21st-Century Economy" will be broadcast live on WDIV Channel 4 from 12:30-1 p.m. Saturday's events include a Student Town Hall event and a Teacher Town Hall event, which you can also stream online.
