WE ARE SNAG: (Up)Setting the Stone Call for Entries

As the third juried member exhibition in the WE ARE SNAG series, (Up)Setting the Stone is an exhibition looking for your interpretation of settings. Stonesetting has been utilized in some of the earliest known jewelry. There are thousands of variations based on a few different techniques. Whether used traditionally with gemstones, applied to new materials, or even explored as a concept, this exhibition focuses on the setting. Submissions such as jewelry, objects, vessels, sculpture, and architecture will be considered, but are not limited to these categories. Deadline: September 15, 2016. Learn more and submit an entry>>>
Compelling Questions

This is SNAG's third installment of  "Compelling Questions." We pose a question to one or more people in the field of jewelry and metals and post their answer(s). This month we hear Nanz Aalund's answer to "As a long time designer, who has witnessed many trends in both the art jewelry and fine jewelry fields, how do you think contemporary artists and designers can move forward?" Read Nanz's answer>>>

Metalsmith magazine's annual Exhibition in Print publishes later this month. Here is a sneak peek at the cover! The 2016 theme is "Shifting Sites," with an emphasis on location or place as subject or actual space for the creation and display of work.
