Why are you interested in committing your time and energy to our organization? To me SNAG represents a consolidation of the vast possibilities afforded a forever growing enclave of artisans where there exists a stimulating arena where ideas are freely shared, embraced, and acted-on by colleagues focused on the pursuit of creativity. I think SNAG draws into its fold, like-minded individuals from incredibly diverse backgrounds encouraging all to share in this unlimited conceptual and technical knowledge. It presents an opportunity for metalsmiths to observe many different artisan's brains at work and to add their own individual aesthetic to the foray of a knowledge base gleaned from personal examinations of centuries of functional and non-utilitarian hand and machine made objects. SNAG celebrates this diversity in a highly professional manner, affording individuals, from beginners to masters, an intriguing plethora of venues that they can continue, if they so choose, to explore with purpose throughout their creative lifetimes. New! Compelling Questions
SNAG is starting a new feature on the news blog called "Compelling Questions." Every month we will feature a question that is posed to one or more people in the field of jewelry and metals and post their answer(s). We start with jeweler Kate Wolf and the question "What was your path as a jeweler and designer early on, and how did it influence your branching out into creating products for other jewelers?" SNAG Links Preview
As we prepare for our Auction of Masterful Links during SNAGneXt, here's a sneak peek at another of the 2016 links:
The Three Fates by Lohn Lunn Silver and copper
Storyteller John Lunn's link was inspired by the Ancient Greek tale of the three fates. The first, Clotho, spins the yarn of life; the second, Lechesis measures out how long we live; and Atropos cuts the cord. The cycle represents the links between past to present to future. Lunn has been a flute maker for 40 years, is a published novelist and a community activist. In 2013 he was awarded the Saul Bell award for Hollowware.
