Mindful: Exploring Mental Health Through Art

Society for Contemporary Craft presents Mindful: Exploring Mental Health Through Art September 18-March 12. Mindful is a socially engaged art experience combining the work of more than a dozen artists with innovative programming and community partnerships in an effort to break down mental health stigmas and explore the healing power of creativity.

Two SNAG members will be featured in the show. Sophia Jung-Am Park has created sculptural pieces meant to be worn. Their organic shapes -- much like the branches of a tree -- constrain the body and force it bend in a way that mimics a heavy burden. Kaitlyn Evans' handheld enameled objects speak to her desire to capture and contain all of her worries and anxieties; harnessing them in the palm of her hand.
