American Craft Week Starts Friday
Get ready to celebrate! From October 3-12, it's American Craft Week. All across the country, the people who make, sell, and exhibit handmade items invite you into their studios, galleries, and festivals so you can see their creations firsthand. A pop-up exhibit with Robert Ebendorf is scheduled for October 11th at Mora in Asheville, NC. Learn more about this and all of the other participants and events on the American Craft Week website.

UNIQUES Call for Entries
SNAG's next UNIQUES Sale is on eBay, December 1-15, 2014. UNIQUES is an online auction of one-of-a-kind, limited edition, unusual, and handmade contemporary art jewelry and small metal items. UNIQUES helps SNAG members gain exposure and sell work while helping SNAG raise funds for programming. This time, SNAG will be partnering with The International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB). And we thought it would be fun to have everyone submit entries that reflect the adjective colorful! Deadline November 1st. Learn more

"Forging Entrepreneurs" Presenter Spotlight
Panel Presentation: Everything You've Always Wanted to Ask a Gallery Owner with Carr McQuiston, Signature Gallery; Judie Raiford, Raiford Gallery; Marthe Le Van, Mora; Moderator: Gwynne Rukenbrod, SNAG
Carr McQuiston has owned and operated Signature gallery in Atlanta, GA since 1997. McQuiston completed her Bachelor Fine of Arts degree at Auburn University and then went on to study for a Master's Degree in Art Education at Georgia State University. She has juried numerous national craft shows including the artist selection panel for the American Craft Council and was honored by the ACC as a Style Maker in 2013.

Ethical Metalsmiths Emerging Artist Award
Ethical Metalsmiths' first place 2014 Emerging Artist Award of $1,000 has been given to Joshua Kosker of Bowling Green, OH (at right). The third place award of $100 was presented to Jessica Andersen of Audubon, IA. Congratulations to these two SNAG members! Call for Entries: Down to the Wire
Dsenyo's 2014 Design for Change Competition is "Down to the Wire: Help Make Poaching History." Students enrolled in a design course can submit a jewelry design incorporating snare wire. The competition is a chance to raise awareness about the poaching crisis and inspire students to use their creativity for social change in the world. The Grand Prize is a Safari trip to Zambia. In addition, the winning jewelry design will become part of Dsenyo's 2015 jewelry line, will be hand-crafted by women in Zambia and will help raise $5 per unit sold for anti-poaching efforts in Zambia.Learn more
