are presenting it in a variety of ways. I look for ambitious work, by which I mean unique, original, well conceptualized and well made. I also notice jewelers who participate in the community by writing articles, making comments, assembling shows of other people's work and generally being energetic." This next week, we'll be talking with Cindi Strauss about her experiences as a collector. If you'd like to join in the conversation for May's Q&A on Collecting with Karen Lorene, Susan Cummins, David Huang, and Cindi Strauss, go to the Signup Form and we'll get you into the forum as soon as possible. This 5-day class introduces the basic tools and functions of 3DESIGN, a very popular CAD program for jewelers. Participants learn how to design original jewelry projects and then create photo-realistic pictures, which are perfect for website display, catalog and professional portfolios. The CAD-created designs are printable into 3D models for lost wax casting. The materials kit fee includes one castable printed model created from the student's CAD file and a student license for 3DESIGN CAD, good for three months. The license will be renewed for three additional three months at no additional cost for students who sign up for the advanced CAD class in the Spring 2015 Open Session. Students must provide their own lapt top (PC or Mac.)
Revere faculty member, Vasken Tanielian, will teach the class. Vasken grew up in Paris, France, where he apprenticed under master jewelers. Vasken has spent his career as a fine jeweler, designer and educator. He is one of the few classically trained goldsmiths who is also expert at CAD-CAM.
