Week of June 24, 2013

Greetings!

Today's news blog feature is the second installment of the two-part column from Marc Choyt on behalf of Ethical Metalsmiths, addressing the problems with the Kimberley Process for certifying conflict-free diamonds.

We are also making available on our website a Slideshare version of all six presentations from this year's Professional Development Seminar.  You may recall that back in March I'd announced that the total number of visitors to date on our 23 other Professional Development Seminar SlideShares has exceeded 100,000.

The topic this year was "Sacred Cow, Purple Cow, Cash Cow," challenging the traditional notions of marketing, becoming the purple cow that stands out from the herd, and bringing in more money.  The first presentation that's on our site is the Introduction by Andy Cooperman, Brigitte Martin, and Harriete Estel Berman, the coordinators of the Seminar and all longstanding members in the jewelry/metals community.
