Executive Director
Week of May 13, 2013

Greetings!

Today's news blog features are News from the Field, and sadly another In Memoriam, this time for Phil London.  Phil was not only the founder and longtime president of the Florida Society of Goldsmiths, he also founded the Pennsylvania Society of Goldsmiths and Disability Alternatives, a nonprofit whose mission is to teach jewelry arts to those with physical limitations.

I'm pleased to welcome Shana Kroiz to our Conference Programming Committee, and give thanks to departing CPC member Deb Karash.  As you may recall, SNAG is restructuring our conference format in a number of ways, beginning with the 2014 conference.  One piece of this transition was to create Program and Exhibitions Committees whose members continue from year to year, working with the co-chairs, rather than start over with a whole new group for every conference.

The conference program book for the Toronto conference that opens Wednesday is now on our website.  Even if you can't be there, take a look at what's there, as you whet your appetite for Minneapolis in April 2014.  Whether you're in Toronto or not, take a look at the advertisers whospend money through SNAG to reach all of you.  Be sure to tell suppliers and others that you saw their ads in Metalsmith and the conference program book.  Let them know their advertising dollars are well invested.
