Week of March 18, 2013
Greetings!
The news blog today is the first of several guest "columnists" who will be writing for SNAG. Our inaugural guest column is from John Rose, of 2Roses Studios. John and his wife Corliss are art jewelers in Southern California, specializing in exotic and recycled materials paired with silver, gold, alloy and precious stones. We'll be uploading John's posts once a month. A team of arts management graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University would like SNAG members to take a survey that's part of a research project looking for best practices used by craft schools in the areas of marketing, programming, and fundraising, and tangentially, looking at areas of weakness. The survey will give them information and insights that cannot be gained from an organization's brochure, website, and staff.
This project began in January and will be completed in May. Individual responses will not be reported to a third party (the organization from which you received this survey), all responses will be shown only in aggregate. Please be as honest as possible.
As incentive, survey participants will be entered into a drawing of 5 small gifts (TBD). To be entered into the drawing just provide your email at the conclusion of the survey. Your responses to the survey will not be connected in any way to your email.
Please take five minutes and help them out. Here is the survey link.

Learn more about the Professional Development Seminar at this year's SNAG conference in Toronto, "Sacred Cow, Purple Cow, Cash Cow," with Harriete Estel Berman, Andy Cooperman, and Brigitte Martin, the three coordinators of the Seminar.
Challenging the sacred cows of craft marketing and design, this year's Seminar addresses our need to re-energize our existing markets and access new ones. Find a more innovative approach to display and an interactive marketing model that offers the experience of craft. Use smarter advertising and build visibility in new and unexpected places. Become the purple cow, the one that is unexpected and stands out from the herd - the cow that people notice.
Be sure to tune in Thursday 3:00 pm Pacific time.
