Greetings!
Today's weekly news blog posts are all Member Achievements.The nominations for SNAG's 2013 election closed and here are the people whose names will be on the ballot this year. The candidates for two open seats on the board of directors are Jim Bove, Becky McDonah, and Rachel Timmins. The candidates for one seat on the Nominations and Elections Committee are
Jeff McGee, Gina Westergard, and Laura Wood. Thank you all for wanting to be more involved with SNAG. Later in March we will begin including profiles of each candidate in an issue of Riveting News. Reminder that the Maker Profile Pages are free with your membership. If you already have one, keep it fresh by changing out the images. John Fergus Post MFA Fellowship in Studio ArtOhio State University's Department of Art, through the generous support of the John Fergus Family Fund, is offering two post-MFA Fellows for the 2013-14 academic year. The Fellowships are open to artists working in several fields including Sculpture and Glass. Artists working in hybrid practices that include these fields will also be considered. This Fellowship comes with an $18,000 stipend, benefits, studio space, and access to the resources available at OSU. It concludes with an exhibition and public presentation. Artists who have completed their MFA degree since 2010 are eligible to apply. Visit the OSU Department of Art website for more information.

Making it Real--International Exhibition of Digitally Fabricated Objects
Making It Real is a juried exhibition of digitally fabricated objects organized by Ontario College of Art & Design faculty members Jesse Jackson and Greg Sims. The exhibition takes place May 14-28 as part of the Toronto International Jewellery Festival and coincides with the SNAG conference.
Virtual objects will be submitted electronically from around the world and "made real" locally using a variety of 3-D printing technologies. Making It Real will showcase innovative designs for jewelry, products, fine art, and other small objects that take maximum advantage of direct digital manufacturing. Students, professionals, and creative individuals working in all areas of small-scale digital design and fabrication are encouraged to participate. This is a terrific way to address the border issues for an exhibition.

Have Your Work Photographed at the SNAG Conference
Digital by Design has been exclusively photographing jewellery for over 10 years. They will providing on-site jewellery photography to the conference attendees. Each session is 30 minutes. The rate is just $35 (CDN) per photo, payable by Visa/Mastercard at their booth. All completed photos will be delivered to you via email within 2 weeks after the conference ends.

SNAG Educational Endowment Scholarships March 15 Deadline
In 2013, SNAG will award three scholarships, in the amounts of $2,000,
$1,500, and $1,000. And we will again administer the $3,000 Hoover & Strong Scholarship for production jewelry design by a graduate student. At least one of the three Endowment scholarships will be awarded to an undergraduate student.
This year's jurors are Michael Gayk, Katie Macdonald, Sadie Wang, and Cari Stefani.
In addition to the monetary awards, the recipients of these four scholarships all receive a complimentary membership in SNAG, and their work is featured on a four-color postcard sent out to an extensive list.
Submissions for all four scholarships is done through the CaFE website Deadline: March 15.

Winners of First-ever Palladium Alliance International

Jewelry Design ContestDawn Muscio, Alishan, and Mackenzie Sala won the Grand Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize, respectively. Entries to this competition must have been made in a 95% palladium alloy.
A panel of industry professionals scored the entries based on how well each design highlighted the key attributes of palladium, including its natural whiteness, durability, and light weight, along with the overall creativity and marketability of the piece.
Muscio's grand prize win earned the artist the right to create an entire line of palladium jewelry, funded by Palladium Alliance International.

International Juried Exhibition Open Call
The exhibition will consist of two-dimensional and three- dimensional art works in all media, including freestanding work and installations. The juror is Elisabeth Sussman, Curator, The Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. Awards: First Prize $300, Second Prize $200, Third Prize $100. All winners will be listed on Viridian's website. Details are on the Viridian website.

CUE Foundation Curatorial Project Call for Proposals
This program provides one deserving curator the necessary time and resources to realize an innovative project, with the aim of encouraging curatorial research in tandem with exhibition planning. CUE will provide institutional guidance and resources to the curator, who will produce a group exhibition with related public programming and an accompanying exhibition catalog in July 2014.
Selected applicant will receive $1000 honorarium and an exhibition/production budget of up to $3500. CUE will also contribute up to $1500 toward shipping expenses and up to $4,000 for catalogue production. For more information, visit the CUE Foundation's website. Deadline: April 30
