You'll see below that the  Call for Entries Prospectus for our next virtual exhibition, Contemporary Goldsmithing: Tradition & Excellence opened today.  It's open to anyone in the world whose work fits the jurors' criteria.

Listen to the delectable descriptions of the Toronto conference in the interview with Paul McClure and Melanie Egan, the Toronto co-chairs, on Jay Whaley's Metalsmith BenchTalk.  You'll wish the conference started next week.

Reminder that the Maker Profile Pages are free with your membership.  If you already have one, keep it fresh by changing out the images.  If you aren't using the full 20 images, then add more to your page.  All the images also circulate throughout the website.  Make the most of this SNAG member benefit. 
Call for Entries Open: Contemporary Goldsmithing:
Tradition & Excellence

This is SNAG's second virtual exhibition, juried by master goldsmiths George Sawyer, Judith Kinghorn, and Tom Herman.
Read the Call for Entries Prospectus and the Jurors' Statement on our website, and begin thinking about the pieces you will submit.  Open to anyone in the world whose work fits the jurors criteria.

The entry fee is $25 for SNAG members, $35 for non-members.  All SNAG members will receive the discount coupon code in broadcast emails sent to you from the office.  Use this discount code at the CaFE checkout to receive your $10 off.

Submission deadline is May 31.

First-ever Design for Death competition
Design for Death is the world's first international competition to re-design deathcare for the future. Designers, artists, and architects are invited to present their ideas and innovations to inspire and transform deathcare practices.

Families want funerals and memorial services to be meaningful and personal experiences that help them say goodbye to loved ones. Funeral directors are eager to discover innovations and ideas that will help them better meet the needs of the families they serve.

The competition will award a total of EUR$80,000 in prizes. Winners will have their work showcased at the 2013 NFDA International Convention & Expo in Austin, TX

Designer jewelry company seeks an organized and creative person to implement marketing and business development initiatives.  Work closely with the owner of the company, the production manager, and the design coordinator.  

 

The position includes coordinating their marketing plan,managing

the market week calendar, social media and PR liaison for their publicist,
requires travel to New York City for tradeshows twice a year and possibly travel to additional shows down the road, assist design coordinator with graphic design tasks related to marketing and branding, develop copy for e-blasts, catalogs, website, and blog postings.

Arts and Healing Network Call for Entries
The Arts & Healing Network is offering up to four AHN Awards to artists who address environmental issues or have a demonstrable process of using art to heal the earth .

Each recipient receives $5000, and is featured on www.artheals.org. All creative media qualify. Artists must have a web site that clearly explains their environmental artwork. Nominate yourself or another artist
through their online form. Contact AHN for questions.

LAST CHANCE CALL FOR ENTRY: CONFLUENCE
The 2013 SNAG Juried Student Exhibition, Confluence, will showcase the best student work from college and university metalsmithing and jewelry programs across North America. Jurors Cheryl Fraser and Robert Longyear will make their selections from a full range of metal and jewelry work, including traditional and non-traditional approaches, to showcase exceptional work from the next generation of metals and jewelry artists.

SNAG STUDENT MEMBER DISCOUNT: Submissions are through CaFÉ, entry fee is $25 for SNAG Student members and $35 for non-student members. Use the SNAG discount code: 2013studentmember.

LAST CALL to Educators for Beyond Borders 

SNAG's Annual Presentation of Student Work   

BEYOND BORDERS: A digital presentation that represents the talent, creativity, and hard work of students everywhere. Powerful and inspirational images from students pursuing certificates, associates, bachelors and master's degrees.

 

All submissions for this presentation must come from faculty, not from the individual students.  This presentation is not juried.  The five images submitted will be included in the presentation; however, depending on the number of schools participating, SNAG may need to edit for time. Every effort will be made to give equal representation to each participating institution.   

 

Faculty: Submit images from your current students' work that best showcases your school to the entire conference and on SNAG's website.

Call for Entries 24th Annual Juried Show, Las Vegas

The Annual Juried Show is the Contemporary Arts Center's (CAC) annual show to expose a wide audience to the work of artists in any media.  This exhibition is a prominent showcase in the Southern Nevada region, located in the downtown Las Vegas arts district..

Work must have been completed within the last twelve months and not exhibited in a previous CAC exhibition. Over $3,000 in award money.  Find out more on the CAC website.  Deadline: March 29.
