Greetings!
As 2012 draws to a close, we'd like to look back a sampling of SNAG's accomplishments over the past twelve months. It's been quite a year.
An entirely new website, new design, new functionality, new content, thanks to Social Design House, the Online Presence Committee (Michael Gayk, Arthur Hash, Loring Taoka, and Daniel Otten), and board members Bryan Park and Jamie Obermeier.
Metalsmith's 2012 Exhibition in Print "Gothic Jewelry: Sinister Pleasures" curated by Valerie Steele, and the ensuing exhibition featured at SOFA Chicago and then on to The Metal Museum.
Thirty-four scholarships awarded to students for the Phoenix/Scottsdale conference, thanks to generous support from Todd Reed, Jewelers Mutual Insurance, Barbara Heinrich, The Metal Museum, Carissa Hussong, Kathleen Browne, Susan Hamlet, and others.
Manya & Roumen, Todd Reed, Gustav Reyes, and George Sawyer all featured in Metalsmith's
"In Production" editorial department.
Jolee Mickesh received the Hoover & Strong Scholarship for a graduate student making production jewelry, administered by SNAG's Educational Endowment. And our Endowment scholarships went to Erica Meier, Lindsay Fisher, and Bongsang Cho.
Our first annual business symposium, "Forging Entrepreneurs: Tools and Skills for Business Success," in Pittsburgh.
Our elegant virtual exhibition space with "The Body Adorned," juried by Gail M. Brown, with an equally elegant catalog designed by Christine L. Sundt.
Our Maker Profile Pages, where you build your own page filled with images and information about you, links to buy your work and more. Images from the Maker Profile Pages also rotate throughout the website.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in SNAG. We look forward to a terrific 2013 with you, as we continue to advance the professional practice of artists, designers, jewelers and metalsmiths through education, innovation, and a vibrant and passionate community.
