Week of November 5, 2012
Greetings!
Fantastic news to report about our Maker Profile Pages.
Effective immediately the Maker Profile Pages are now a FREE member benefit, no longer a $25 add-on to your membership. The launch of these pages has been so well received that the board wants to eliminate anything that stands in the way of all members, including student members, creating their own Maker Profile on our website. Thank you to the early adopters who have made these pages so successful as a promotional tool for individuals, the organization and the field.
I'm also excited to announce that the Call for Presenter Proposals and the Call for Panel Proposals for our 2014 conference in Minneapolis are now available on our website. The theme of the conference is "Grains to Gold" and the deadline for submissions is January 15, 2013. Read more about the theme and what to include in your proposal Don't miss the Call for Related Work for our 2013 Exhibition in Print outlined in the announcements below. Thanks to a generous grant from the Rotasa Foundation, we are able to commission Susan Cohn, a Melbourne-based jeweler, designer and curator.
Last, my apologies to the subject of last week's Maker Profile, Frances Solar for misspelling her first name.

Exhibition in Print 2013 Call for Related Work
Metalsmith's 2013 Exhibition in Print will explore the power of the photograph to express the spirit of an object.
The photograph is an integral part of a maker's practice. It not only records a work, it presents a maker's intention and, as such, defines how a work is understood. More significantly, the photograph is often the only way an object is experienced; it becomes the filter by which the work is seen by others. Each work will be shown in at least two of three photographic approaches: a formal high-quality studio photograph; a casual smart-phone shot; an experimental image reinforcing the concept or function of the work.
Guest curator Susan Cohn seeks examples related to this theme of photographic translation. Find out more on SNAG's website. Deadline: January 15, 2013.
