Greetings!  

SNAG has just been given a limited number of free one-day passes to SOFA Chicago, good on Friday 11/2, Saturday 11/3, or Sunday 11/4.  Each ticket admits one person.  These passes include all the Salon Lectures, including the three that are sponsored by SNAG, and our exhibition of work featured in the Exhibition in Print "Gothic Jewelry: Sinister Pleasures."  

If you would like to receive a free ticket to SOFA, email SNAG at  conference@snagmetalsmith.org no later than Noon (CST) this Thursday, October 25th. Limit 2 tickets per person, based on availability. 

And if you are going to be at SOFA, be sure to join SNAG and the Chicago Metal Arts Guild for our coffee break Friday morning from 11:00 to noon, in Room 328.  We'll have coffee, tea, bagels, pastries, and lots of great conversation.     
Debut of the Toronto International Jewellery Festival
The Toronto International Jewellery Festival (TIJF) is the umbrella event promoting all the exhibits, events and parties held throughout May 2013, anchored by the SNAG 2013 conference. 

For the entire month, Toronto will be transformed into a mecca of jewelry and metalsmithing.  An official guide to TIJF and website will be produced to unite
all the venues and to provide widespread promotion.

The official launch of TIJF is November 15 at Harbourfront Centre.  The new TIJF website will be unveiled, together with the online exhibition Bijoux, curated by Noel Guyomarc'h and Paul McClure. Check out the TIJF website at http://www.tijf.info/

Call for Artists: Long Beach Island Foundation of the
Arts and Sciences, Small Works Exhibition 2012

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences encourages emerging and established artists to participate in their annual Small Works Exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is to showcase works that reflect personal vision.  Exhibition Dates: November 8 - December 19.

Submissions may include all forms of media and must have been executed since 2009.  Size Requirement: 3D work must be no larger than 8 x 8 x 8".  Read the prospectus for more information. Questions contact Alison Craft, Gallery Manager.

Call for Entries: Commissioned Outdoor Sculpture
Schlow Centre Region Library

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is commissioning an outdoor sculpture on behalf of Schlow Centre Region Library and the Centre Area Transportation Authority, in downtown State College, PA.

The Sculpture will be sited in front of the library at the corner of Allen Street and Beaver Avenue.  Schlow Centre Region Library serves over 350,000 visitors.  The commission is worth $36,000 to the

Call for Entries: Imaginatio(n)ow
 
The Institute for Humanities Research (IHR) at Arizona State University seeks artistic entries that address the theme of the Humanities and the Imagination/Imaginary.  The exhibition will be run February 1 through
April 26, 2013.  
 
Open to proposals of all types of media, including 3D artwork.  The application is free and the call is open to all artists.  For more

SOMArts Cultural Center Seeks Submissions 
Commons Curatorial Residency

The SOMArts Cultural Center invites you to expand your creative practice.  Artists and independent curators presenting contemporary work in any medium may submit proposals.

Continue professional development, form new collaborative partnerships, and engage community residents through programming that serves the mission of SOMArts: to promote and nurture art on the community level and foster an appreciation of and respect for all cultures.

Artists/curators selected for exhibition funding receive project grants up to $3,000, exhibition space in the SOMArts Main Gallery, installation, technical and event production support, and community engagement/public relations support.

Call for Papers: From Digital Design to Material Artworks
Leonardo Electronic Almanac  
This issue of the Almanac explores new theories, methodologies and
methods related to the materialization of digital arts.  They welcome papers relevant to the following themes:

- digital crafting, digital manufacturing and art;
- the role of fablabs as spaces for contemporary art practices;
- makers communities engaged in interdisciplinary art activities;
- open hardware and software facing contemporary art;
- aesthetic challenges given by digital design.
