Greetings!

SNAG News publishes today, and you'll receive a separate email with links to it.  Take time to look through all the opportunities and other information from and about jewelry and metals.  Don't miss a very interesting technical article, "The Advantages of TIG Welding Forms for Enameling," by Sean Macmillan.

Sean received a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Faculty Professional Development Grant to experiment with enamelling on complex fabricated forms.  This article came out of that research.  He shares his experiences in both welding and large-scale enamelling, two studio techniques that are rarely combined.

CERF+ Evaluation Survey
SNAG is helping CERF+ on an evaluation of their Studio Protector®: The Artist's Guide to Emergencies, their emergency preparedness and recovery toolkit for artists.  In case you've forgotten the name, it is a colorful wall guide, about the size
of a calendar with wheel charts and pull-out booklets.

If you purchased or received a Studio Protector®, please take CERF's online survey to capture your input about the toolkit. It will take 8 minutes or less to complete.  It requires no preparation on your part, just responses to a short list of questions. As a thank you, CERF+ will send you a copy of its new pocket-sized "Business Insurance Guidebook for Artists" if you sign up at the end of the survey.

Start the survey here.

Museum of Craft and Folk Art

After thirty years, the MOCFA has announced it will be closing its doors on December 1 at the

end of its current international exhibition "Fiber Futures: Japan's Textile Pioneers."

Sustainability in the current economic climate, with reduced funding for the arts, was a significant factor in the decision, however Museum leadership also believed that, in many ways MOCFA

had achieved its essential mission.

As the only folk art museum in Northern California, the Museum has been recognized for its focused and unique exhibitions of traditional and contemporary folk art and craft from around the world - demonstrating how folk art, contemporary craft, and fine art are all part of the same continuum.
