Students Traveling to China to Compete in Festival 
       

A team of eight College of Communication Arts and Sciences students are traveling to China to participate in this year's highly competitive OneClub China Youth Creative Festival where about 5,000 students from advertising programs throughout China send their best work to be juried by OneClub officers in Beijing, and of those, only 300 are selected to compete in the festival competition.

Sports journalism students recently had an exclusive backstage pass to the ESPN College GameDay set, which included a one-on-one session with an ESPN writer, a press conference and tours of the set, production truck and tour bus.

Mark Williamson remembers what it felt like to stand in the pit for ESPN's College GameDay when he was an MSU student; now the College of Communication Arts and Sciences alumnus has a backstage seat as the Technical Director for the ESPN college football pregame show.

"Having external clinical placements is a rewarding learning experience because I can apply my knowledge from my courses at MSU into a real-life setting," said Allison Hart, who is in the Communicative Sciences and Disorders master's program.


Journalism Faculty Receive Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Awards
        
Two School of Journalism faculty members were honored for their outstanding work advancing community engaged learning at MSU and presented with MSU Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Awards at a ceremony Nov. 7 at the MSU Union Ballroom.
