CITY UPDATES

  • Students are attending orientations now to prepare for their exchange March 8-16th.

  • The group is planning a possible trade mission from Trier for April 5-12, 2014. Volker Klassen, Managing Director of the Trier Airport and the Port of Trier, Vice Mayor of Economic Development Thomas Egger, and 8 other professionals may come to Fort Worth to meet with logistics businesses and organizations in Fort Worth.
  • DOMO arigato to all the volunteers who staged the recent Oshogatsu celebration - The Year of the Horse. It was a wonderful event with over 100 people in attendance.
  • 20 students, one delegation leader and 2 associate delegation leaders are meeting regularly to prepare for their June exchange to Nagaoka.
  • High school students from Bandung will arrive March 17-29 as part of the Ambassador High School Program hosted by Western Hills High School.


  • Deposits are due Feb. 28th for the June exchange to Budapest and Vienna. Space is limited so secure yours today.

  • Honorary Hungarian Consul General Phillip Aronoff will speak about the current state of Hungarian economics and politics and how it affects relations with Texas businesses, Feb. 6th, noon at the City Club of Fort Worth. Purchase tickets online prior to Feb. 4th.

  • 13 students, 2 young professionals and one teacher are meeting regularly to plan for their March 8-16 exchange to Budapest.

  • Detective Manny Reyes and Fort Worth Police Officer Daniel Segura will travel to Toluca, Mexico this month to conduct more training in forensics and police work at Tec De Monterrey University.

  • All Saints Episcopal School will host 10 students from Toluca March 24-April 5.

  • The committee is planning an official exchange, led by Mayor Hilde Calderon Gonzalez, April 10-13 during Main Street Arts Festival. Home hosts and volunteers are needed so contact the office to get involved.

  • The committee is welcoming engineering and bioengineering students from Toluca for a mentorship program April 10-18, 2014. They are visiting businesses and universities including UNT Health Science Center, Dannon Yogurt, Rahr Brewery, University of Texas at Arlington, XTO, Oncor, Freese and Nichols, and others.

 

  • Space is still available for adults to join the Mbabane Service Adventure exchange to Swaziland and Johannesburg, South Africa. Details on the website. Contact Beth for more information: [email protected] 

 
  • 8 students, one university student and one delegation leader are meeting regularly to prepare for their exchange to Guiyang, China in June.
  • There is still space for educators to travel to China with the students. Please contact our office for more details.  


 Fort Worth Youth International

  • Applications for both the Junior and International Leadership Academies are now available on our website. Deadline to apply for ILA is Feb. 21st.
  • Congratulations to FYI and all our volunteers who raised over $20,000 through the Sundance Santa program this holiday season. We salute you for your hard work.
  
  • NET members are planning a special event with the Young Professional delegation arriving from Toluca, Mexico for the Main Street Arts Festival

  • Thank you to our NET members who are traveling to our sister cities next month as Associate Delegation Leaders: Karla Lopez, Reggio Emilia, Italy; Cindy Vasquez and Gladys Guevara, Budapest, Hungary.
