Farmers Market moves to south side of Veterans Park
The Boyne City Farmer's Market is moving to the other side of Veterans Park on Saturday. The North Street entrance to the park is closed due to construction at the new City Hall, so the market is moving over to the other side of the park. Market manager Erica Tosch explained: "We're staying at Veterans Park, we're just going to try it out on the other side of the pavilion. We're hoping to make it easier on you, our awesome customers." Market shoppers are asked to refrain from parking in the spots marked for vehicles with boat trailers. "We don't want to get in the way of anybody using the boat launch," Erica said. "Come on down and see us, there is still an abundance of great food." The market is open rain or shine from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Saturdays through October. In November, the market will move indoors to the Library Red Barn on Park Street, opening from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The Boyne City Farmers Market is a program of the Boyne City Main Street program. Farmers Market website.

Finding employees is still a challenge for many businesses
From the Petoskey News-Review: Business continues even after the summer season is over and in some industries in Northern Michigan, it becomes a challenge to make sure enough employees are on staff. But depending on the industry, the difficulty of hiring could be more than just the changing seasons. Local chambers of commerce and companies agree that right now it's hard for businesses to fill vacant positions with qualified candidates. But the reason behind the challenge can vary depending on a number of factors. Jim Baumann, the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce executive director, said a number of businesses he's in touch with said the hiring challenges were pretty extreme this summer. Now in the fall, the challenge still exists, but it's not quite as bad. Full story
Hot water safety tips from KorthaseFlinn Insurance
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the majority of hot water scalds involve young children and the elderly. In as little as 30 seconds, water that is 140° F can cause burns to an average adult. But it only takes five seconds for a child to get burned by water at that same temperature. To protect your family against scalds from hot water, consider setting your water heater to 120° F or less. This should be approximately just below the medium setting. You should not place ice, butter or lotion on a burn to make it heal faster. These remedies can actually harm the skin and can cause the injury to become more severe. Instead, to treat a minor burn, run the affected body part under cool water for three to five minutes and then apply a sterile bandage. If the burn is serious, seek medical attention immediately.
