State and local officials attended ceremony recognizing the city as "redevelopment ready."

Boyne City receives Redevelopment Ready certification from MEDC
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) on Monday recognized  Boyne City as the fifth community in the State of Michigan to receive Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) certification. RRC is a voluntary, no-cost program that assists municipalities in establishing a sound foundation for development and investment to occur in their communities. "Communities that receive RRC certification have removed unnecessary hurdles to development, while preserving their vision and goals for a successful future," said MEDC Senior Vice President Mark Morante. "We congratulate Boyne City for being the fifth community in Michigan to achieve this certification and for working to make its community a vibrant place where business and talent want to be." RRC Program participants receive a comprehensive assessment measuring their community and economic development practices to the RRC best practice standards. The program evaluates and then certifies communities that integrate transparency, predictability and efficiency into their daily development practices. Certification signals that a community has removed development barriers and streamlined processes to be more competitive in today's economy. City manager comments.

Tax incentive for low-income apartments moves forward
City of Boyne City The City Commission on Tuesday moved a big step closer to approving an agreement that would provide tax relief for the owners of a low-income apartment complex to help them make needed renovations. The net effect of the payment in lieu of taxes agreement is about a 30 percent reduction in the payments the owners will make. He said the law requires that every cent of the money the owners save in taxes must be spent on improvements to the 25-year-old complex. In addition, the owners can use the agreement as a basis to seek tax credits from the federal government that it can use to further help fund the renovations. News-Review story

Coffee and doughnuts will be donated by supportive area businesses. The senior center will also offer free lunches to all veterans on the fourth Tuesday of the month, starting in January.
PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS - One of the most valuable tools the Chamber utilizes to promote local businesses is our Visitors Guide & Business Directory. This quality annual magazine is a benefit of Chamber membership and is used to expose your business to thousands of potential customers. Our Guide has a full year of circulation, with 20,000 copies distributed from the Chamber office, at numerous regional businesses and at MDOT Welcome Centers state-wide.  Our publication includes a buyer's guide that lists all Chamber members organized by business category. Char Shaltz, account manager for Harbor House, will contact you within the next few weeks to discuss options for promoting your business in the 2016/17 Visitors Guide & Business Directory. Char can be reached at (231) 582-2814 or visit harborhouse.com/boyne.htm.
"BC" WINDOW STICKERS and "Boyne City" license plates are available at the Chamber office with proceeds going to the Boyne City Booster Foundation.
