Gridders prepare for a tough test from Calumet at 1 p.m. Saturday
From the Petoskey News-Review: For the past few seasons, the Boyne City football team has entered most of its games as the more physical squad, offensively and defensively.  That physicality and willingness to hit has been a big factor in the Ramblers' run to three straight district finals, and has them on the verge of another deep playoff run. But their dominance in that category will be tested this Saturday by a Calumet squad who has built its own identity on winning physical battles up front. Full story
> For those who can't make it to Earl Brotherston Field at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rambler Sports Network will broadcast live audio  at 12:55 p.m. Per MHSSA rules, one hour after the game, you can relive all the action, replays and coverage by RSN. The Ramblers are ranked 6th in the state for Division 6, and are in the playoffs for the fourth year in a row. If the Ramblers beat Calumet the probable next opponent would be second-ranked and undefeated Traverse City St. Francis, then Ithaca. The broadcast is available as always by clicking the game graphic at  www.boyne.k12.mi.usAs an audio-only broadcast, there will be NO password.

Final Boyne on the Water session Nov. 17
After three public input sessions, a final plan for improving Boyne City's waterfront parks will be unveiled Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the community hall of St. Matthew Church, 1303 Boyne Avenue. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the session will begin at 6. City officials and a steering committee for the project are encouraging area residents to attend and to help spread the word about this meeting. Dubbed "Boyne on the Water," the effort is part of a grant-funded program conducted by Michigan State University in collaboration with the Michigan Municipal League. The team is using the input and suggestions gathered through sessions held in May, July and September - plus follow-up comments via email - to create a final design concept that will be shared with the public at this fourth meeting. Also on the agenda will be a discussion of next steps, including who will lead the ongoing effort, and options for funding. For more information about the project, and some of the ideas presented in previous sessions, visit the city's website. Anyone who has questions about the project may call Steering Committee Chairman Jim Baumann at the Boyne Area Chamber, 231-582-6222, or Barb Brooks at Boyne City Hall, 231-582-6597.
> Light refreshments will provided, and sandwiches will be available for purchase from Littleman Bites food truck.
Long-awaited Court Street paving is complete
City of Boyne City and Evangeline Township officials were joined by neighboring residents for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the newly paved Court Street this week. The $890,000 project was a joint effort between the city and the township. About $714,000 in federal and state grants helped finance it. City Manager Michael Cain said, "The completion of this long anticipated project marks the removal of the longest portion of unpaved road in the City of Boyne City.  Due to the topography around this street it was the site of frequent and serious washouts due to the high volume of storm water that ended up following the street. The combination of paving, curb and gutter and storm water collection systems incorporated in this project will mean a safer year-round driving surface and better and cleaner handling of storm water which ultimately makes it way to Lake Charlevoix."
