City wants input:
Will voters support facilities millage?
From the News-Review: The Boyne City City Commission knows its municipal facilities are in poor condition. It also knows approximately how much it will cost to replace them with new buildings. What the commission doesn't know is if the city's voters will support a millage to pay for much of it. That's a question for which city officials hope to get some insight at the commission's next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27. Full story.

Volunteers pack baskets for Community Christmas.

Thank you to all - from Boyne Area Community Christmas
It is with sincere appreciation we, the members of Boyne Area Community Christmas, say thank you for your time, effort and donations at Christmastime 2014. For the last 60 years your combined contributions helped thousands of families have a brighter Christmas. Thank you to all our area churches, businesses and citizens who donated food, money and took time out of their day to help families in need. We also extend a huge thank you to all the Boyne Area students who were able to lend their helping hands packing boxes and sorting food items. We had to "pray for a little Christmas magic" this year as supplies and donations were low, but our prayers were heard loud and clear. Donations were received from all over Michigan. From Holland to Northville, Warren to Dewitt, you all contributed some Christmas magic and we couldn't be more thankful. The people of the Boyne Area and its Michigan wide supporters have once again ensured that Boyne Area Community Christmas was successful. No child in the Boyne Area was without a Christmas due to your generous donations and loving help.
To every one of you from every one of us at Boyne Area Community Christmas, thank you! We look forward to working with you again. May you all have a blessed 2015.
With gratitude,
Heather Ross, Secretary, Boyne Area Community Christmas

Great Lakes Energy to the rescue
Raven Hill Discovery Center's Ham Radio Station is up and running. With help from members of the Top Of Michigan Amateur Radio Club (TOMARC) in Gaylord, the station is operational and the first class of technicians has received their ham radio licenses. Recently, local electric company Great Lakes Energy came to the station's rescue, when sliding snow ripped the new ham radio antenna off the center's roof. A Great Lakes crew came out and set a utility pole for Raven Hill to use as a freestanding antenna. Anyone interested in joining the Raven Hill Discovery Center Amateur Radio Club or attending a technician class, should contact Cheri at 231.536.3369 or email her at info@ravenhilldiscoverycenter.org.
> Shown in the photo, from left, are the linemen who set the pole: Chris Murray, Chuck Skop, Bob Jones and Mike Streasick.
